Saint of the Month

Saint Leo the Great is one of the four great Doctors of the Church whose sermons frequently occur in the Divine Office. Focused on the pastoral care of his people, St. Leo was a champion of the faith and a teacher of holiness. He wrote, “Virtue is nothing without the trial of temptation, for there is no conflict without an enemy, no victory without strife.”

Symbols of Our Faith

The altar, which is at the center of our worship, is a symbol of Christ and of God. It is both the place of sacrifice and the communion table as well as the meeting point between God and his people. We venerate the altar when entering the church out of reverence and respect.

Prayer of the Month

Loving God, we pray that our departed friends and family receive your mercy and grace. Welcome them into the light of your heavenly kingdom and grant them eternal life in the joy of your steadfast love. Continue to comfort those who mourn their loss and help them receive our care and support. We pray for the grace and strength to journey in Christ’s footsteps that, when our earthly lives are complete, we may share in the joy of salvation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
